Dread Locks

I was curious if anyone here had them. If so for how long. I have had mine going on a year now.

What products do you use?

(The store I go to is always out and I hate paying shipping on hair stuff :rolleyes:)

I had them about 4 years back or so, before I decided bald was better. I had them going for a while. I really can't remember what products I used, but they rawked having them!

One of my ex girlfriends has dreads and to be honest i dont think she used any products at all. It was all natural i guess. But she's had them for almost 11 years.

I had them a long time ago and not really for very long... beach water was my #1 product lol... I let them form naturally and I had some big ol' dookie-dreads...but I know several people that have/had them and I think the most used product I've seen is the Bee's Wax. Also cactus juice is a good bonder... Now days the have products geared to dred your hair for you...
All the ladies I know always smelled good... but I know a few fellas that have some funkY smelling heads... except for one, and he rubs patachouli into his... still on my first cup of coffee... did I ramble!?!?!

I had dreads for a little over 3 years. I only needed to use hair products in the beginning when they were still forming (for me this was about two years, as I did not really work them or put a lot of stuff in them). The best thing I found to use was real bees wax that was not petrolium based (just read the ingredients). That whole "Dread Head" line of products is out there, I bought a kit but only ended up using the good bees wax it came with and also the shampoo. Both seemed to help out. When your dreads start becoming huge and hard as rocks, you really won't have to use anything anymore, your hair will just naturally start becoming dreaded at the roots as it grows into its respectful lock.

All that being said, there are a lot of different types of dreads, depending on the locking method you use and also your hair type. My dreads were pretty messy the first couple years, during their last year they were pretty comparable to Rob Zombie's.

really? Dreads.... I have a fear of dreads. Horrible experience once, with the au natural dread head. It wasn't a pleasant experience... *shudder* No offense, but they scare the boogers outta me.

I'm also a bit OCD... that doesnt help any... o.O

I currently use DreadHead and I love the products a lot they are just sometimes hard to come by at the store I go to. I am unable to order things online most of the time.

I talked to a friend of my Dad's today that has a business and he mentioned ordering stuff to sell, so that will fix the hair problem.

Wow I didn't think so many people on the thread would have/had them, that's really cool!
