No 'alien heads?'
I got this girl in a trade last night, but what struck me was she didnt have the alien head patterns! Does this mean she's not a normal? I got to choose from a few and couldnt pass up her odd patterning

Re: No 'alien heads?'
That's what's called "reduced pattern" and is a part of the normal variations to be found in ball pythons. She's very pretty!!

Re: No 'alien heads?'
Well I had a feeling it was a reduced pattern, but I thought the markings were to bold and it could possibly be a banded, I posted for a second opinion

Re: No 'alien heads?'
Nice snake. I love the reduced pattern. Breed her with a spider, should make some beautiful babies

Re: No 'alien heads?'
Is reduced actually a genetic trait? Or is it just a type of Normal, similar to how Pastels are (ie. Grazys and Lemons). Also, if a reduced pattern pastel is a trait, what type is it (ie. dominant etc.).

What happens when you breed a reduced and a spider? Never heard of this one yet, but then again I'm pretty new to this. :carrot:

Re: No 'alien heads?'
Breeding spiders with reduced patterns usually makes for a more reduced spider which is what most want in a spider. The spider morph is a reduced like trait so combining the two usually exagerates this trait. It's not guaranteed (reduced isn't always genetic) but it's worth trying
