Re: Please Help Real Fast
the acurite is normally on the cool side and the probe is usually kinda buried on the warm side.
Experiment around. There really is no "right" way to do it. Do what works for you.
Take pics :)

:gj: :) Yeppers....if U put the unit on the cool side, then the ambient temp is the top number and it's the 82-84*. String the probe & stick it somewhere over the area of the UTH. < I > personally then put the waterproof aluminum tape over it to keep it secure, b/c all my snakes like to burrow and a couple of them would pop it off the bottom of the tub or tank and then the temp wasn't correct. The 2nd number is now your hot temp and should be 92-94*
The bottom is the % relative humidity and should be around 50-60%. After any adjustment or misting-type change, give your thermometer to stabilize to get an accurate reading of the change you did.
Re: Please Help Real Fast
Thanks i thought so...i really appreciate all the help u have given me, u have answered almost all of my questions first...One more real quick...there is a lot of extra wire what do i do with it?
Re: Please Help Real Fast
Tie it up with a rubberband :)
Re: Please Help Real Fast
That brings up one more quick question do i have to burry it all the way with the white on part on the bottom or is it half way down or what is the deal...and i hope that my uth is big enough!!
Re: Please Help Real Fast
My girl would always sorta move the substrate out of the way, or burrow right down to the bottom of the enclosure. So it's probably best to have it where its body will touch the bottom..
Also make sure it's secure.
Re: Please Help Real Fast
I use the twist tie that comes on it. I only pull out enough to put the probe where I want it, and then tighten the tie around the rest of the little bundle.
With the probe, you have to be VERY careful. Tape can get stuck to your snake and cause a VERY serious injury to their skin and scales. I only use enough to seal off the probe under the bedding...I use aspen and sometimes aspen mixed w/the coconut husk
Re: Please Help Real Fast
Oh yeah the acurite comes with a self stick pad on it already...But if it gets worn out you'll have to make your own little sticky pad.
Re: Please Help Real Fast
So for now i can stick it myself until that wares off and i am using aspen BTW...Thanks again i think i finally got it now time to put in the batteries and find out my temps...
