Virgin no longer

Well it's finally happened. I've been bit. :rolleyes:

I was doing my nightly ritual of checking on everyone and for some reason decided to pull Dandylion's tub out to make sure she was a ok. I didn't have the tub pulled out more than 6" when she comes flying out and tags me. :O WTF :O No hiss and she's had her dinner yesterday and should have been happily snoozing away in her hide...blast her. It startled the crap outta me, since I was half asleep when I went in there. Didn't hurt much, and it's kind of a relief knowing a 1500g bp isn't that bad. (of course why couldn't it have been one of the 400g babies?!?!?)

Still I have no clue what the heck happened? It wasn't a feeding response, since it was only a quick tag. She'd been fed. She's never had that reaction before, although we did have a lot of kids playing in the house today. (but only for a hour) So maybe she was just giving her opinion on the slight increase in activity. :confuzd:

Anyway, just had to share with the only people who will understand... :D

Congratulations on losing your virginity. My daughter, future son-in-law and my husband have all been tagged while working with our ball pythons - I'm the only virgin left in the bunch. I'm still wondering what's it's going to feel like. . . .

1500 grammer striking you may not be too bad, but wait until you get one that bites and holds on. I had one of my Het Hypo female hatchlings come out of the tub and bite my hand. She then proceeded to wrap around my thumb and try to kill it. She ended up trying to kill my hand for about 10 minutes. She was only about 80 grams, but that was the most pain I have ever flet from one of my snakes. I do agree with you that getting bit is more startling than painful.

Congrats on your initiation, Christie! I've had a few since my first one - still continues to startle me, but still no real big deal. ;)

Did you try running water over its face? We had one try to feed on my wife's hand and that seemed to work fine, with no ill affect.

The one that got my wife was about 70 grams and it got her right on the knuckle!

Oh Dandy got you good Christie. Looks like you didn't pull back though so just some nice clean puncture wounds to deal with (makes you happy you don't own hots right LOL).
