Should someone create a sticky shopping list?
(Not me for sure.) But the thought occurred to me that someone should create a sticky which has a shopping list up somewhere that has a list of the things Ball Python owners need to have. Part of the list could be absolutes like thermostat's, enclosure, heat sources, digital temp. gauges, hygrometer's, tweezers, etc. And part of the list could be things you should probably get or will probably need soon. So many new owners or people intending to become owners don't have thermostat's, scales, or many of the things they will really need to have to do it right. Like a care sheet but only more like a shopping list, 1. 2. 3. etc.

I think it should be someone who wants too, has the time and see's the need to create one for new comers to look at, take the list and shop. It should be someone on here who is a veteran or administrator or someone with a lot of experience.

I think it would be good to have one here. If there is one already I apologize for my ignorance in not knowing there is one posted. But I have never seen one myself. Seems like many new people have to learn what they need from us asking questions and then telling them what they need to have. They don't seem to pay much attention to the care sheets. The list might get their attention more. But maybe not. :(

(This is maybe a kind of example of a possible list.)

These are the things you will absolutely need to have.

    1. A good escape proof enclosure (then list types)
    2 Heat source's (types)
3.Thermostat- a device that regulates or controls heating sources to within a certain set temps and then have examples of higher priced best quality and acceptable but less recommended lower priced units.
    4. Digital Thermometers.
    5. etc..... etc..

or maybe even a list of the most often overlooked but essential items that Ball Python owners need to have. ( Thermostat's, gram scale, ... )

Anyway just a thought I had. Do you agree? Do we need a sticky like that? Or has that idea been done?

I need to stop you right there. I have reviewed your posts in the short time I've been a member and I've discovered a disturbing trend with you and your company. You are going waaaaaaaaay over the line with help and customer service and I'm afraid many (including myself) will have no other choice than to buy from you. How is this fair to the other breeders???

:8: Lol, well I post here because I believe in educating and helping people, it's my way to give back to the community and paying it forward (I had excellent mentors), and as for my customers I treat them the way I would want to be treated, simple as that.

Wouldn't have it any other way because I LOVE what I do.

Stop it. You’re going to have me buying 6 [emoji216] snakes instead of 3. You can talk to my wife!

That is the kind of thing I am getting at that I think we need but not just for your customers but also for everyone that comes new to this site and make it a sticky so it stays around and lets people know just what they need to keep ball pythons (in addition to care sheets). So many just don't seem to have a clue or realize the amount of items necessary to safely keep these animals.

And when I started this thread I thought of you Deborah and I figured you and some breeders who sell did this for your customers. I think you would be an excellent example to create such a shopping list but I know you are super busy and so are many other breeder/posters.

But if someone finds the time to make a sticky shopping list, it would be nice imo. Also is Eric's Brunick's feeding chart a sticky, if not should it be one?

Thanks to Kira's post I found the answer to my question. It is a sticky on advanced husbandry.

Kind of thought it should be on regular husbandry instead, since I always thought advanced husbandry is more pertaining to people with racks, heat tapes and such. Seems to me feeding is pretty basic stuff for everyone to see right off the bat.

Personally I think it should be moved or copied to husbandry or general. Just trying to be helpful to folks and make things easier for the ones who answer. Then they can stick to the harder questions and refer people to the sticky's if they over look the easier basics. Just like Kira referred someone to Eric's chart. :)

And that is where it is, the post is in Husbandry not advanced husbandry.

The only stickied threads in advanced husbandry are more for well for advance keeper and breeders. (there are 3 of them)

I will do a write-up on shopping list / care sheet ( I likely will use what I already did and will adding a few details such as product links), will have it posted by Monday.

My mistake, your right, it is posted in husbandry. Sorry about that. Glad to see it is there where it should be.

And thank you SO Much Deborah!!!! You are very busy and for you to take the time to do that is very kind and thoughtful. And I believe it will be a great help to new people who come here looking for help and answers in what they need to keep Ball Pythons. I say take all the time you need.

    Thanks Deborah
