I've only had this happen when the feeder was slightly overheated.

I left it to thaw at room temp in a bag in the shed where my frozen reptile food is kept which is in the shade all day this morning, the other six snakes I fed hadn’t done it ,
I never heat the food up to feed ,all ways room temp, the smell alone is enough for them to strike
I’ve never had it happen before this

When I just had boas, I had that a happen a couple of times myself. When I thaw I usually let them sit out at room temp for a while too, with the balls I do use a hairdryer boost. And yes it’s impressive when they get it all down, and gross as hell lmao.

I guess thawing at room temp would take a long time? Do you worry about bacteria building up on the food item?

I’ve never had problems yet, had snakes over 20 years, they also in a sealed box do no fly’s lay eggs.sometimes I will defrost in a bag with water if I haven’t got them out the freezer in time ,I do smell them first just in case tho
