Skittles and dark patch

So we noticed yesterday that Skittles has a dark patch on her lil nose, but to me looks like a bit of stuck shed that got dirty from her burrowing...maybe y’all can agree? https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...e76e692109.jpg

Threes no signs or RI or distress she’s very calm and not head shy which was great trying to get the picture. Just never saw this before

That does look like a piece of old shed !

It also looks as if it is irritating to her and she is "rubbing" it on stuff to get it off, hence the dirt on it and inside of some of the heat pits. If she allows you, could you carefully rub a slightly wet/warm hand towel over it a few times? I think once it would get a bit wet, the friction should pull it right off.

You could also leave it, but it seems to be irritating her.

Looks probably like a bit of stuck shed to me too, you could try a moist cotton bud/cutip not sure what you guys call them in the USA, what you do your ears with anyway lol
Or could be rubbing on the plastic /glass or mesh to get out at night and caused almost like a little blister that’s hardened up

I agree. Stuck dirty shed. Lucy do you think your snakes "remember" something uncomfortable or stressing like use holding their heads still, or pinning them down to do something like removing stuck shed on their face/nose etc..?
My burm always Blew a lot of Hot air but after was back to doing whatever he was before that. There Ball Pythons are so much more nerve racked it seems to me and I worry about having to help them like that. They feel like miniature Yippy dogs compared to what I've been used to hahaha even after a year of these Balls now I still worry I spook them lol.

I don't think they "remember" in the sense that we do, but it can set them back to feeling at ease while handled.

Definitely not permanently I don't think. The Borneo Python I used to own needed shots quite often and his mouth cleaned out. That was a struggle. He always just tried to get away, never got aggressive. He never seemed to hold a grudge, either.

I also wouldn't just grab the head and hold it still, that would definitely cause a big struggle and a panicked snake. What I would do is stand near the running faucet (on warm water) and keep running the slightly wet head towel over the face as the snake moves. Let it move. Let it "jump". Let it jerk away. Just calmly keep doing this for as long as the snake will tolerate it without completely freaking out.

The key is to allow them some movement and freedom.

The actual "grab and hold still" I reserve for more pressing matters, such as to remove something out of the mouth or have a good look in there. Or when you have to medicate.

For a stuck piece of shed, some patience and working "with the snake" works best. It just takes a few minutes for the old piece of skin to absorb enough moisture to get soft enough to peel off..

Esp. being on the tip of the nose, sometimes they DO rub and cause a blister that will then dry up and look like old shed.

I would have a go at it with a moist towel, but do not exert to much pressure. If that piece doesn't get soft and is easily pulled off...let it be.

Have you ever seen the snake nose around, push and try to escape?

She definitely cruises around a lot, but no pushing that iv caught. I’ll try the warm water and towel tonight when she’s out again.

Shed. Since it tucks into the nostril a bit, it can easily get stuck once in a blue moon
