Ball python housing

Hi guys, I know how your not supposed to keep 2 ball pythons in the same enclosure but I was wondering if I could get a 125 gallon tank and split it into to sides and put and put a ball python on each side. Would this be okay?

how do you plan to "split" it?? you'd have to make the divider permanent and 100% ABSOLUTLY ESCAPE PROOF; sealed with something strong.

honestly, for peace of mind, just get two enclosures. you only benefit yourself with one modified enclosure, and that is not what keeping animals about.

besides the risk of escape/getting to the other side, an enclosure like this does not support the quarantine process for new reptiles with other reptiles in the home.

all this + itd be practically impossible to find a proper lid for this tank. also keeping temp gradients would probably be pretty hard.

As long as you can give them the correct conditions ... heat gradient paramount .

Plus empty they weigh around 200 lbs. and you're stuck taking up 6' of horizontal space. One thing I learned with a top-opening 40 is that whatever liquid you put into it, you also have to take again. If I used a tank again, I'd totally turn it on it's side so when I clean it I could easily rinse it off and then just tip it to drain out the front.

Possible yes... Practical and safe no. Its almost impossible to get a seal up top at the screened lid in the middle. The screen flexes and theres no way to use a piece of plexiglass or anything that would make it completely escape proof from one side to the other. It would be easy to silicon a piece against the floor & 2 sides of glass to separate them but no way to do that against the top. They will squeeze into anything. I had my 2 month old squeeze into a 1/2" track on a enclosure and bruise her entire spine... It was terrible trying to get her out and take out the glass without hurting her... If you already have 2 snakes id go with a AP T25 with the proper divider which is deeper and just as long as a 125 gal if you want them together.. They are $399. Some will say go with a T8 for $199 but if you see how my girls explore at night you would understand. My 15 month old is almost 4' now and she stretches out from 11pm to 5am when I get up and loves it.. So i say give them 3' each min not 2'.

Could it work? Yes.
Are there far better options? Yes

Assuming it was properly sealed and seperatred maintaining proper temps and humidity would probably be a nightmare.
Also, I'm not sure of the dimensions, but chances are you'll end up with tons of wasted height as well as an enclosure that would be way too big unless they are both adults already.

Is there any reason you don't want to just get two tanks? I feel like that would be far less of a pain.

The concern everyone has is that unless the divider is anchored well (via screws or something other than glue/silicone), it will likely cave with time. Ball pythons are surprisingly strong relatively speaking.
