Anyone use these..

I was wondering if anyone uses or has used these. Since there are three plug ins I was wondering if I could plug two heat mats into the one for two tanks?

Cheap thermostats have cheap results.

With thermostats the rule is to have things identical. Same model of mat, same wattage, same place on the tank, roughly the same amount of substrate, same demand on the heat mat, you should be fine. When you start shoving a thermostat on a 10 gallon and a 50 gallon tank, or you start putting one under the tank and one on the side, you are going to have issues.

I have several, they're actually one of the better cheap thermostats. You can run multiple heat pads off of it as long as they are identical.

How expensive do these things get damn. Well I have a 20 gal and 40 gal so one heat mat would be larger.

You cannot do that.

The good trusted thermostats are the herpstats, which are 100 for the cheap ones. They range at the moment to about just shy of 500 dollars, however they have ones that control 1, 2, 4, or 6 heat sources. So normally a herpstat 4 and 6 are going to be used to control a number of racks and/or incubators and are a savings compared to as many cheaper ones.

The reason you cannot do that is because thermostats are stupid, it's a great way to start a fire or underheat your reptile

Those look pretty sweet but way more than I need I'm sure cool none the less. And fair enough I wasn't sure so glad I asked.

when using the nice ones herpstats etc I assume I can run one and have 2 RHP's hooked up to 2 different enclosures but not with Zilla or because the RHP's are the same the zilla will be fine?

This is my second "start" and I was running cheap Tstat the first time and it didn't feel 100% confident. I use Herpstat now. I bought one for retail (140 for an H1) and then just scored a CSerpent 3-41 with an H1 for 200 for both. Watch out for deals....

I have a couple and they work but are not consistent.
It takes some adjusting to get the temperatures where you want them.
You want to run two different heat sources so if you want to use only one thermostat you will need a dual zone.
I personally prefer the VE line from Reptile Basics.
Cheap is not about price, more about quality.
Remember its the one thing that can keep you from bbqing your animal.
