Thermostat recommendation
I have had a rack set up for about a year or two now, I have had a Herpstat with absolutely zero problems. I ordered a Jumpstart strictly incase I ever had a failure with the herlstat.
I am upgrading to Animal Plastics T8 with RHP from pro heat. When I talked to tech support about my application to ensure I had the correct size rhp ordered. They went on about how the safest thermostat is a jumpstart, that it is UL listed.
I know that UL testing is federal, and your insurance technically does not need to cover an incident if the item.jsnt UL listed.
What is everyone's thoughts?

I'm just curious why pro heat would recommend a $25 thermostat, if they are not a vendor? They are not benefiting from it.

Because if you tell people that on the top of the purchase they need to spend another $100 you might not make that sale, a lot of people like to cut corners spend little not considering the price of the product VS the longevity of the product.
They recommend that as a minimum which I guess is better than nothing.

He has to say that to be credible.
Bob @Pro heat makes a big deal how his RHPs are the only UL ones available and how important that is. To be consistent with his thinking and or beliefs he MUST recommend a UL thermostat.
I'm not implying any insincerity or shadiness. I just recently purchased two of his panels myself.

Yes, there would absolutely be a cost involved with UL certification. How significant that cost would be, what that process would look like, and what impact that cost would have on the retail price would all be questions better suited for Spyder Robotics themselves.
