Eye Problems

My ball python's eyes look like they're stained glass patterned or shattered glass.

I highly doubt dehydration is the problem.
I change her water every morning and it is never dirty. Her humidity is good. She also has a humid hide.

The other day she spooked and when she jerked her head back she smacked the side of her face on a metal surface. That's when I noticed the paterning on her eye and I assumed she caused injury which I hoped would repair itself within her next shed.

But when I looked at her it's now on the other eye as well.

I can't imagine it being retained eye caps because the surface of her eye is still smooth and there's no white circles around the edge of the eye.
Also I'm usually very obsessive for making sure there are eye caps,:cens0r: nostrils, and tail tip in her shed. She shed about a month ago and I can't imagine me not checking for those things.

If you guys think it is retained eye caps, I've seen there's at least 2 trains of thoughts on that.

1) take a damp towel to it

2) leave it alone until the next shed to see if it comes off on its:cens0r: own

Which do you guys suggest?

My line of thinking was wait until she sheds and then take her to the vet if the problem doesn't correct itself.

Suggestions?

Pictures would really help us make the decisions and rule things in or out. :)

I've been trying to take a picture but my camera is so crappy I couldn't capture it and she's not the type to sit still :( It's quite subtle.
I'm going to try again shortly.

I'd double check your humidity. But again a picture of the snake would help.

It looks caved in in the picture but in real life her eye ball is completely smooth. It just has lines on it or cracks.

Looks like a eye Cap to me. I would up my humidity just a tad and see if it comes off

Same here tbh , I'm far from an expert though but I've seen similar on occasion over the years and it's always been a retained eye cap .

Letting the snake slither continuously through your ands whilst holding him in a wet , rough textured towel will usually do the trick if it is an eye cap . Just apply very gentle pressure over the head area when it's slithering towel . ( must be rough textured though ) .

Definitely boost your humility, there's a good chance that will help. Add some damp moss to his hide. I usally soak it in warm water them kind of ring it out. Keep this up for a couple days, I won't be surprised if this takes care of the issue. Please let us know. :):)

Thank you guys. She does have damp coconut husk in her humid hide. I will up the humidity or "boost my humility" lol.

If the above in combination with the damp textured towel thing doesn't work (I have a habit of worrying ahead of time) is it safe to wait, while keeping her humidity up, until her next shed (should start in the next couple of weeks)? Or do I need to go to a vet?
