Holes in egg boxes necessary?
6qt sterilite bins with press and seal. Are holes necessary? Also is airing out necessary? Thanks
Re: Holes in egg boxes necessary?
Really depends on who you talk to as there are pro and cons on the question. There is also anecdotal reporting to support one or the other. I think the majority of keepers would say no to needing holes in the incubation tub. On the other hand I think most would say yes to venting the tub on a weekly basis.

By that do you mean to simply crack the seal once a week to let some fresh air in?

Really counter productive, the goal of using the egg box I'd to keep humidity in, holes will let it out.
One common problem every year is that people with limited experience will have their eggs drying out.
There is a fool proof way to incubate and it does not involve holes.
As for venting I only open my egg boxes every other day starting 5 to 7 days before hatching. This year I was out of the country during that last week so I was not there to open the egg box every other day and the eggs hatch out perfectly.

Would this happen to be the substrateless method? Im planning on using the grate on top of 100% perlite in 6qt bins.
