When should you start feeling follicles?

I have yet to feel any follicles in my breeder females yet but I also have yet to see any ovulations either. Do you start feeling follicles before or after ovulation? My girls have started to refuse food, one not eating now for four weeks. Is this a good sign?

So far so good. I'd say start feeling them now. That way you have somewhat of a baseline to compare to. If you don't feel anything now and it feels different later. That's a good sign. Also, a good little trick is to use a paper towel in your hand when feeling. It allows you to use a firm grip but they can still slide through your hand.

Hmm, ok now this is a tricky subject because this was my first time mating my only female bp Oct 5,2015 and i kept watching videos n how to palpate her but to no avail they might have been there but i didn't know what i was feeling for meaning how firm or soft the follicles might/would be, so i just let her build tell me.. The way i let the build tell me was when she went off food for 4 weeks but maintained a good girth like she had eaten but really she didn't, then i intro'd the males and her brother locked with her she went off feed for 1.5 months offered her a nice sized rat and she took it.. I'm sorry if it sounds like i'm rambling but i'd just let her building of follicles tell you, when she's ready to mate, again sorry if this didn't answer your question..

I actually use pillowcases for that lol. I have not felt anything yet... its my first time though and I know it can be hard to feel when your a newbie.

my main problem trying that was am i pressing too hard on her, stress,stress,stress is the word on this site NOT to do so i didn't want to do that to her by pressing too firmly, with my non sensitive hands...

A good way to try is to have her crawl back in her tub or tank but in such a way that she is stretching for it. Take a soft T-shirt and let her slither through your hand using the T-shirt as if you were wiping her off, with some pressure between your thumb on the ridge of her back and a few fingers in the center of her belly. If the follicles are present you should feel anything from small marble size lumps to ping pong ball sized lumps in her belly as she slides in. They will feel like they are spaced apart maybe a couple inches and it will be in the lower half to third of her body. you may only feel a couple even if more are present.

Follicles grow before ovulation so you'll feel those while the female is building towards ovulation. I like to take my females out of their tubs and then open the tub a crack and allow the female to crawl back into her tub while I have a finger sticking up into the middle of the underside of her belly, once they start to grow you can usually feel a string of bumps. Imagine pulling a string of pearls between your fingers, you can feel a bump, bump, bump bump... It's not ovulation, but it's an indication that your female is headed in the right direction.

I normally wait until the female is looking chunky after multiple pairings, 9/10 times that's when I feel follicles and it helps me predict when she will ovulate. :) like the others I too let the female crawl back in her tub while I feel for follicles. I normally only try once or twice, don't want to stress her too much.

Here's my butter spinner girl with good sized follicles, this is normally what I look for before feeling around.

My females (especially the one) definitely look chunky, they haven't eaten for 2-3 weeks depending on the snake, and yes I do let them crawl back into their tub. I just find it weird how the females seem to be getting fatter but are not eating, but I still can't feel anything.

So today was tub cleaning day and I decided to try palpating again, (wish there was someone here who could double check for me), my smallest female seemed to be a bit lumpy compared to my other females. If I am right, I felt three bumps in succession very close to each other, and the an inch or two down, I felt one bump... The one bump was about 4-6 inches from her vent, the other three about an inch or two above the one bump. Does this sound right and could it be follicles? It is the first time I have felt these bumps....
