bp feeding

so i got my month old bp on the weekend, and the breeder i had gotten him from had said he was feeding him 2 rat pups a week, i dont know if thats too much what do you guys think?

For hatchlings you're supposed to feed every 5 days. And the total prey weight should be 10-15% of your ball's body weight.

Supposed to feed every five days? Really?

One appropriately sized prey once a week is enough for any hatchling, sure they can be fed twice a week however they don't have to.

I had quite a few people tell me five days up until 500 grams. My boy starts cruising for food after three and has never turned down a meal so far, maybe he is just a pig lol.

Yes, I fed Ginny every 5 days. Feed her whatever size that she wants, as long as it's not too large. Two rat pups every 10 days sounds fine.

Once my hatchlings reach adult mice (about 90g to 100g) they get switched to once a week. They all did fine on it.

I feed my egg jumpers every 5 to 7 days.

Agreed, every 5 to 7 days will suffice. Just be sure that it is an appropriately sized Mouse or Rat.

yea ive tried feeding him twice now and he hasnt taken it, he hasnt eaten since ive got him like 5 days ago and im getting worried :(

Offering too soon and too often, you do not have this BP for even a week.

I always recommend people with limited experience to wait at least a week before offering food the first time.

For the rest since it is likely that the refusal is stress or husbandry related or even both.
