I just got back from picking up my little Hog Island Boa - simply beautiful, the colouring, iridescence of her sides, etc. Not sure if it's a male or female and a name (Turbo for male;Layla for female?).He/she is super friendly and can't wait until she is ready to come out for some handling. So pleased with the whole deal - just wished the shop was better to deal with - not a lot of breeders around here.

Piiiiics or it didn't happen  But not if you'd have to handle to get a couple of course. No stress for new babies :D

So much more active than my ball (but still love the ball). She has been all over her new enclosure and is not the least bit shy - can only imagine what he/she will be like as an adult. This will be fun. Gonna have to look more into posting pics as I only have a couple on my BlackBerry at the moment. Also not the easiest thing to get a decent pic of.

And they are much easier to feed than most BPs. The way a guy put feeding boas on another site was "You can have your boa around your shoulders at a rock concert and it will snatch a parachuting rat out of the air." Although my pied BP girl rivals both my boas on the gung ho meter when a rat is brought in the room lol. She stands up like a cobra and slams it the instant I dangle it in her cage. And yeah where are these pics? I've had to go to facebook so I can see pics of boas!!! Facebook is so hectic, its like being at a party with too much booze, people and a very loud band :P

Yes boa's are so cool. They are night and day when compared to ball pythons. I could not keep just one.

Nice looking boa! Keep a watch out for mites... especially if you got her/him from a shop. If you see him soaking, it could be mites and you'd need to replace the bedding with paper towel, treat with PAM or similar mite spray, etc. He looks healthy though. :)

I'll keep a close watch for mites - don't need them. He/she does seem healthy and very curious. I'll keep in touch with how things go with her. I'm still a bit shocked that I found one around here. Halifax is not exactly a big, snake town and most people that I know and work with are freaked out by them.
