Single or Multi Gene "Powerhouse male" ?

Hello all, I'm looking for your thoughts and opinions on whether to purchase a single gene or multi-gene "powerhouse" male for next years breeding plans. To be more specific, if you had to choose between a single gene male that was $500 dollars because it's a newer morph, or a 3-4 gene male that is the same price but has a bunch of common morphs....which would you choose and why? Just in case it would influence your decision, I will have the following females ready to go next year.

.1 Mojave
.1 Spinner
.1 Pastel Enchi
.1 Yellow Belly

The mojave and spinner have already been paired this year with my only male (pastel) and are developing follicles nicely, the other two are just over 1000g so I decided to hold off until next year on them.

I would likely go for the 3 - 4 gene male, but then again it all depends on what 3 or 4 genes he has and what the "single newer" morph/gene in the other male is ..... the new morph/gene may not do anything interesting with any of the genes your current females carry

Amount of gene plays no factor, buy what you like. Just this year, I needed another male, I bought a super pastel butter hypo. for the same price I could of got a banana or clown and more than likely sold animals easier, but I like the potential of what I could do with the super pastel butter hypo, so I went with that.

Fire, Vanilla, Enchi, Butter, YB would all go well with about anything out there.

Nuclear, Butter Enchi, Enchi Fire, Enchi Pastel, Enchi YB would all be decent choices and not break the bank at all.

Depends on your plans too. Pure hobbyist or are you planning on trying to make this into a business at some point as well? If you're just looking to make beautiful creations for you to enjoy and help pay for your hobby go with what strikes your fancy. If you want to try to see some return go with the new gene if it's something that you both like and think others will or may like. Also, 99.9% of the time new genes are BIG $ (unless your best friend proved it out haha) so you might want the 3 gene until you make a name for yourself and can both create and sell product. otherwise you end up with lots of mouths to house and feed. Not fair to you or your animals.

Great question! Most definitely a 1-2 gene "newer morph". Honestly the BP world is flooded with crazy multi gene animals right now and im not a fan of where its headed. Get a male that will produce killer QUALITY combos for you. My suggestion for you is: Pastel leopard male. Leopards are super hot right now and they are making some great combos. I would suggest a recessive, but you have no recessive females so after you get your male id get some hypo or pied females. Obviously a desert ghost should be on the list too.

To be totally honest, I don't like the look of anything with more than four genes in it. Too busy, too hard to identify, too much. My three breeding males are all 2 gene; lesser bee, cinnapin, and calico pastel. You can see I mostly have "common morphs", which I would almost call stable morphs really. They're common because they're well established, affordable, and lovely genes to have, which is why I chose them (calico is kind of the exception, it's harder to find and more expensive than the others but so very worth it).

If you find a single gene boy you just have to have, no one here will frown at you for it. If I had found a good calico male I would have snatched it up no matter what, I just got lucky enough to find one with pastel in it as well.

Glad I'm not the only one who thinks the 5 gene monsters on the market are kind of "meh". Any more than 4 and everything starts looking muddy, bland and uninteresting. I've got a cinnapin and lesser bee too, but their first bf is gonna be a pastave. Probably a super pastave if I can find one I like so I get at least pastel in everything. Calico will come later (and if I can snag one with enchi all the better).

Which ever direction you go OP, just make sure you get what you like, and that you're getting a good quality version of it.
