Howdy there

Okay so this is my first ever owned Royal Python (Ball Python) (Python Regius)

Anyways, i got it from a friend because she wanted to get rid of it for whatever reason, anyways my question is how should a tank setup look for a python? Arabella is about 2.5-3 foot long. I will upload a tank picture and a picture of the beautiful Arabella once i can i just wanted a proper idea for a tank setup.. Thank y'all!

Also is it normal for a Python (or any type of snake) to just remain still after feeding? She has hardly moved since i fed her earlier, just wondering if it is normal behavior or not..

This is the perfect checklist to make sure everything is...in check lol. And that's perfectly normal for a snake to be still after a meal. They like to sit and digest for a while. I hope this is helpful [emoji4]

Thank you very much! My girlfriend was concerned because Arabella hasn't moved at all since she got comfortable after her meal. I got her to move her head but after that she has been still for roughly an hour or so. I told her it can take up to 72 hours for it to digest its food in-which their using all their energy to digest the meal, which can make it stay still but i wanted to confirm my story lol.

Also thank you for the link I'll be sure to check it out shortly! Uploading a video of Arabella eating for a few friends to see whom have never seen a snake eat before lol. Kills me how it takes 200+ minutes for a 8 minute video to upload to YouTube. (I would love to say that is due to our internet, curse you Verizon DSL! lol)

Haha tell your girlfriend that she wouldn't be too eager to run a marathon if she just ate a big meal either lol [emoji39] but Arabella looks great, I really like the name to by the way.

Yep, totally normal! In fact, you might not see her moving around much at all - that's how ball pythons like to do things, and more than that, if it's during the day time, she's probably sleeping. I like to leave mine alone for ~48 hours after they eat. If she's still, she's feeling comfy, so no need to worry. Balls are not active snakes, although some will lurk around at night.

Oh she is moving around a lot this morning lol, she is a very active lady.. Trying to figure out a way to escape her tank i am sure because she is always up by the screen.. I will post pictures of the tank setup and stuff after work. I looked at the link and by far is my setup any-wheres close to that one :/

Thank you, the name choice was my girlfriend's pick lol. She is prego with our first born so if she wanted to run a marathon i would laugh even after a full meal haha :D

Welcome to the forum. You will find a lot of helpful people here. Just a word of caution. Ball pythons are addictive you can't have just one. If you hang around this forum it will only make it worse.:D

Oh trust me i know lol, already talking about our next one :) but uploading some more pictures to a new host now to share. One is the tank which isn't even close to what the link posted above suggested, but it's a work in progress..
