    First Boa!
    Meet Cy :)

He's had a rough start. He was born with an genetic eye defect and I said I would take him as a pet only. I've wanted a boa for a while, especially a male sunglow. It was pretty perfect. He was shipped out to me with little incident, besides an ignorant Fedex lady at the pick up location.

When I got home I opened the bag and there was blood. His bad eye looked really bad like it had ruptured. I called the vet and they wanted to see him right away. I took him in and the vet said the outer skin of his eye had actually rubbed off. What I was seeing was the exposed cornea(yuck). The bad news, he was certain Cy could not see out of that eye. The good news, he also couldn't feel it.

Little Cy was sooooo good through the whole exam. Now I have ointment to put on his eye twice a day. For now I have him in a rubbermaid tub with paper towels to keep everything clean. Yesterday I fed him a small meal and he took it like a champ. I was worried with all the stress he wouldn't eat.

He is such an amazing creature. Nothing like my corn snakes or milk snake.

Some pictures to share. I made sure to get his good side :)

Total stunner for a first boa!

Nice going. You'll love the species. I just bought my first Coastal Carpet python yesterday. Ball, Boa and Carpet. That was our "big 3"!

    You will really enjoy boas!

Awesome boy!! Good for you in getting him all straightened out! He looks amazing! :gj:

I'm sure his eye will be ok. Sounds like you have a decent vet. Snakes are incredibly resilient! I'd be interested in seeing a pic of his eye if you don't mind. It's good to see these things from time to time for educational purposes. Keep us posted on how he does!

Sorry for the late reply I've been working a lot.

Here are a couple pictures of his eye today. It's looking a little crusty but doesn't seem to bother him at all.

Cy shed yesterday. His eye is looking way better. It seems like we will not have to remove it :)

He is a beauty. Sucks about the eye, but they are remarkably resilient animals. I love boas - I will have one again someday! Thanks for sharing his story... I will keep following [emoji4]

Thanks for sharing the pics and I hope he continues to do well for you. Our boas are the favorites in our collection... So laid back and curious. They really do make great pet snakes.
