    Synchronized Shedding
I have 11 snakes. None of them shed by themselves. It's like a third of them will shed, a week later the other third well shed and so on. The three biggest (Burm, RTB and a female Ball Python) will shed together which makes some sense. But all the others, ranging from 150g to over 1000g shed together. I woke up to three beautiful freshly shed Ball Pythons and my IJ starting to wiggle free. Anyone else have synchronized shedding?

I asked the same thing a year ago, and here are the answers I got. It still happens. I like it, since it means a bunch of them are in good picture-taking shape at once.

My 2 girls shed a day apart. So I know it can happen. I'm gonna try my pastel boy on my largest girl in a couple days.

I too have 11 snakes, and as of last night have 3 in shed at the same time. I've also had it happen where I've had 5 or 6 shed at the same time. The only downside to that is, there's a lot of poop to clean when you have 5 snakes shed all in the same day...

Its really interesting and I wonder what the reasoning is. This is a pretty consistant thing so it's not just a coincidence.

The IJ finished her shed while I was hiking!

Because most people feed all of their snakes the same schedule...

All of mine are fed at the same time. I have 2 that have gone on strike.

You would think so. But the ages, sizes, and how often they eat are all different. The four snakes that shed yesterday:

3 year old 1500g 0.1 Lesser who has been on a feeding strike for a few months.
1 year old 450g 0.1 normal who has neurological issues, only eats mice about every 5 days.
Less than a year old 500g 1.0 Pastel Enchi, picky eater, will eat every 5-10 days.
4 year old Irian Jaya Carpet Python 0.1, about 5 feet long, will eat a rat every week.

So they're not exactly on the same feeding schedule. I wonder if something in their brain clicks. Kind of how girls sync with each other when they live together?

I wish mine would shed at the same time... It seems like they enjoy taking turns. At most, out of 12 snakes, I'm lucky to have 2 shed the same week. They are fed on the same schedule though whether they eat or not is up to them.
