When to stop feeding every 5 days????
So, my bps are growing and I am so happy. Now, I am just curious as to when I cut them back on their feedings. I feed every 5 days right now. Matilda is 400 g (however, her food that I have is on the small end of her 10-15% of weight, so I will definitely finish those first) and Phred is only 110g. So, does switching them to every 7 days depend on the bp size or the prey size? AND what are those sizes?
Thanks,
Re: When to stop feeding every 5 days????
For me, up until 400-500 grams I offer every 5 days, and then I switch to a 7 day schedule.

I agree around that mark, if you want a prey size, I'd say once they take weaned/ small rat size. I say weaned/ small rat because companies sizes differ slightly. IE a petsmart frozen thawed small rat, is closer to weaned rat size for most.

That's what I do. When they hit 400-500 and start taking small rats, they go to 7 days.

I don't think that it is imperative that you go by a specific schedule, but rather gauge the snake and situation.
But I can see the benefit of a schedule as well, in that it is helpful for you the owner.
In the wild, though, they eat when they can.
I personally think that with your 400g BP you can switch to the 7-day "schedule" whenever you like. If yours is a good eater then I'm sure it won't matter much to her anyhow ;) she should eat just the same (me thinks)!
Matilda is an extremely good eater, but she is also very undersized and devours her food the second she sees it. She is a rescue and is almost a year and half old (according to the previous owner) who (even though she was 300g when we got her) was feeding her small mice every 2 weeks. I will finish up with her food now and when I order the small rats, I will switch her to once a week (as long as she is still gaining weight). Phred is obviously a baby (only about 3 months old give or take) and also a rescue who was at 66g when rescued and very dehydrated and wrinkly. Doing well now though (except for the stuck eye caps from his first and only shed). :)
