    Can a bp live here?
My bp currently lives in a 20 gallon long tanks. I was wondering if he can live in this tank for his life. He is currently 5 months old. Also, does anyone know the adverage weight of a non breeding male bp?

A 20 long is really too small for an adult BP it only has 2.5 square feet of floor space. The absolute minimum really should be 4 square feet.

What are you using to heat that tank?

Alright. Can I just wait till next Chrismas to get it or should I just get it now? I use heat lamps. Before someone says something about them. I've had my bp for 3 months and he has never missed a feeding day and has perfect temps on the ground.

A 20-gallon long is the bare minimum, most keepers will use low and wide tubs; however, you honesty cannot go wrong with a standard 40-gal tank either. I recommend moving him into an adult enclosure when he is at least 2ft.

I had a friend who has her ball python 2 yrs and said she was told he can live his life out in a 20 gallon long..my advice was also a 40 gallon. I have a 55 gallon just sitting around in my place now, waiting for my ghost to be full grown.

I wouldn't go bigger for awhile, a large enclosure can stress a small young ball python out.

You can clutter up a larger enclosure with plants and hides to make them feel more safe.

You say he has perfect temps on the ground, but what about humidity? Also how are you measuring your temps, form your picture it looks like all you have is the stick on analog gauge in the middle of the back panel, which doesn't do any good for accurate temps let alone the true basking temp.

I use the gauge whenever I don't want to open the tank. But I have a small temp gun that I use. My humidity can have problems. But I've gotten two perfect sheds so far.
