Here it is....If you read my other thread about the different names you know it's name is Junior. After Dale Earnhardt Jr. I thought I was gonna have to wait until Monday but my boss let me leave early today to make it before the pet store closed. This pic is about an hour after I put him in his tank. To start with he just stayed there in one spot for about an hour then he turned to this position, then I walked away for about 3 minutes then came back and he was gone. I seen him under his cool side hide and he's been in there ever since. I'm so excited. My wife don't understand what the big deal is but.....I'm so excited!!!!

those hides look really big for that little guy. I heard they like hides that they have to sqweeze into or feel very secure in. I have a flower pot upside down for my little guy, he loves it.

Awww, so cute.:) What size tank is that? Also, those are some darn big hides for a baby, lol. You could just get two small clay pots(the smaller ones that are low to the ground) so he can have something more secure and small. BP's like their hides tight and small. It's just a suggestion. :) Good luck and have fun! :D

Edit: LOL looks like we posted at the same time...

    ????
It don't look like water in the dish but there is. I put some fresh water in there a couple of minutes before putting him in there. It's a 20 gallon tank I'm using for now. When I can I'm getting a 30 gallon long. Those hides I got from Reptile Direct and didn't realize how large aroung they are. There alot shorter than they look. He's been in the far corner of the cool hide (on the left) where it is really tight fit. I put them in the tank and realized how large around they are, so I figuring something on that for now. The one on the right I had to prop on the water dish to give him some room in between the two. So, I'm figuring out what to do on those. Just leave them like they are or put something smaller to replace one of both of them. I like the height they are but there really large round wise and take up alot of room. I'll take any suggestions.

Ever though about hosing him in a sterilite or rubbermaid container.

Edit: If forgot to add that i have that same hide for Jojo for his warm side and a cereal box for his cold hide.

Also those little baby ball pythons love those variety pack cereal boxes the longer ones that come in the 8 pack. That way you dont have to buy new hides and eating the cereal is great too. LOL

    finally...my new baby bp!
There's nothing wrong with the hides. They're just too big for him right now. I myself would swap them for two small clay pots with a hole knocked out for entrance.
Here's a site that helped me out when I was wondering about a cheap and efficient way to provide hides to my snake.

And a video on how easy it is to make a hide spot.

Congrats on the little guy! :) Exo-Terra makes one size smaller than those, if you can find them. Those may be a bit too big right now, but definitely a good size for later. You may also want to consider some fake plants to help make it more "secure". I get mine from the crafts section of WalMart. I've got ones in fake pots, and ones that look like vines but are made with a plastic chain link. They might provide a darker, more secure feeling enclosure for your bp .. plus they look really neat. Just my $.02. Congrats on the baby tho :)

Congrats! Those are nice hides for a much bigger bp, but that little guy isn't likely to feel secure in them. As others have suggested, clay pot bottoms with a hole knocked in them make good hides. Ceramic cereal bowls from the dollar store also make good hides with a nice hole chipped at the edge. Alternatively, you could just stuff those with newspaper to make them much more snug.
