finally put my male in with my 2 females and i wanted to know how long do i leave him with them ? i see him trying but i never really watched rats do it ... he is getting a quick pump or 2 in then gets off .. hes a little smaller then the girls so i dont know if hes missing the box or if hes in there ... never in life thought i be writing something like this .. lmao

That's pretty standard for rat breeding. It all happens very very fast.
The male mounts the female and does a few quick thrusts then dismounts. He then will clean his goods for a few seconds then try to mount the female again. The females will hop around enticing the male to mount them and arch their backs. Their ears will wiggle too, but not easy to see.

Females go into heat ever 4 days, so it's safe to say that 1-2 weeks is enough time to leave the male in. (If they are both sexually mature)
I personally leave them in for 2 weeks just to make sure.

I leave my males in the group for 2 weeks. My males are also substantially larger than my females.

lol thanks everyone .. and yea he does his 2 -3 pumps jumps back and gets his lick on lmao ... so yea im thinking hes doing the deed .. i was just so interested to watch to day and i was like dam that was quick i was disappointed lol .. but im gonna leave him in there for the next to weeks ... if i notice to females getting larger should i remove him ? or just keep him in for the straight 2 weeks?
