    Hatchling info needed
My first clutch is shedding and its time to make cards for record keeping. Indeed some ideas on what info to put on inventory cards and such. I was thinking the yr , sex and I guess some kind of numbering system but should I include some way to keep up with the breeding? ie. Pas.x pas. pas x norm.

I use the HerperPro software for linage and feeding and all that jazz. af for numbering that something that you'll need to come up with on your own. But at the lease you'll want when it was hatched, its feeding records, and the parents. other than that anything else is just gravy.

Until I have more than 5 or 6 clutches a season I think my current system is working OK.

Dollar store 4x6 note cards - these get tucked under the tub of the hatchling

Clutch # (I can handle remembering the pairing or keep track of the clutch pairings on a different sheet), Tub # (In case the card gets separated from the tub)
    Genetics, Gender
    Hatch Date
Shed Date - Weight (at shed)
    Feeding Date, prey offered, taken/refused

On a separate sheet I have an excel print out with a small box inside a big box and a whole sheet of those. Small box is date, big box is event e.g. "[4/19] Bumble Bee X Ghost Hatch - 5 eggs, 550g" or "[10/2] Bumble Bee x Ghost Paired, lock seen"

On a separate sheet for feeding excluding hatchlings, Snake name on the top, row of small boxes along the left for dates, boxes under the names = O (did not offer) -- (refused) XS, S, M, XS-L, S-L (type of prey eaten, L = live)

This is what I use for hatchlings http://stewartreptiles.com/Articles/Feeding_Card.xls (you can print those on 4x6 index cards), you will find a place for sex, hatch date, morph, weight when hatched, after that I only record the first shed and feedings.

Now for my collection I use this http://reptilescan.com/

These are what my ID cards look like. I use the same ones for hatchlings. I track them on an XLS sheet.

I made them in Word and ofcourse I fill them on the computer as it shows on the screen, and then with pen I put in meals and sheds :). Then when I sell the baby I give the card to the new owner :).

When do you feed and how do you do it I'm feeding live pin key rats. Do you just toss them in and leave them or do you try to entice them?

When it comes to BP hatchlings, sometimes they'll take rat pinks, but most of the time you start them with mice hoppers. The movement is what kick starts their feeding. Normally with our babies, we'll feed later in the evening. Throw a hopper in there and turn off the lights for a little bit. Eventually, after a few meals, they'll start grabbing pinks. I have 6 hatchlings from May and 2 are still on hoppers, 2 have been garbage cans since they started eating, and I finally got the other 2 on f/t rats just last week. Just depends on them.

    Good luck with your babies!
