Pastel vs Black Pastel

I'm looking at a female lesser bee to purchase, and for its pastel gene they used black pastel.

I was wondering about peoples opinions on this. Should wait for a normal pastel gene or go for the black pastel?

Does black pastel get bright colors like a normal pastel?

pastel and black pastel are two completely different genes.

pastel makes the light areas of the BP lighter and more yellow, overall it makes the BP lighter.

Black pastel makes the dark areas darker, and overall darkens the whole BP.

You can do beautiful stuff with both genes, but they really are completely different.

I understand that, I was just wondering on your opinions of a lesser bee with normal pastel vs a lesser bee with black pastel.

I would have pics of her, but she was in shed. Gave me a quick lovebite too, instantly fell in love lol.

You are both confused. I am not talking a 2 gene snake, I'm talking a 3 gene.

A normal lesser bee = lesser + pastel + spider....

The lesser bee in question = lesser + black pastel + spider...


Is it really that difficult to understand my question??

Yes, because a lesser + pastel + spider is a queenbee. I think thats where you confused people. A lesserbee is lesser + spider.

I went back and forth on deciding whether or not to answer given YOUR attitude so I will give you an answer and an advice

The advice you might want to lose the attitude if you don't I doubt many people will want to help.

The answer Black pastel is a DARK morph therefore whatever combo it is used in will be darker then a combo that uses Pastel.

a lesser bee is what people call a lesser spider, when they want to make people believe it also has pastel in it :)


anything with bee means you never can be sure whats in it unless someone lists the genes. Bee sometimes means spider, sometimes it means pastel spider, depending on context ^^

Actually WOBP does not have a black pastel + lesser + spider. I even used the calculator to breed a black pastel + pastel + lesser + spider to a normal, they really do not have black pastel + lesser + spider in the database.

By the way, the quality of WOBP has gone down dramatically. They used to have an advanced search. Now if you search for a gene, you will not find all BPs containing that gene, there is no way to do it. For example, you cannot find "queen bee" by searching for ANY of the genes it contains. You wont find it when searching for lesser, or for pastel, or for spider, because the tags are missing. With advanced search this used to be easy. So if you dont know that its called queen bee, you have to use the calculator and do a breeding in the calculator that can produce it and need to check the results of the breeding in order to see if WOBP has the morph. Not user-friendly at all, its a total pain, you need to work and fight to extract the data you need.
