successful breeding tips if you have breed snakes before please take a look

hello everyone,

this is a thread that i am hoping will help allot of first time breeder.
if you have breed snakes how do you do it, what is the hardest part and the easiest part, what type of incubator do you use, est. Just put as much info as you can.

You're asking for a ton of information. It would take a lot of effort or a lot of copy pasting from other threads for any of us to answer your question. It's easier if you just have a couple questions. There are a lot of write ups/stickies that give you the basics.

I use a Pepsi fridge incubator

It´s a broad subject with many successful ways to go about it and the information is out there if you take the time to look and trust me you will take more pride in searching and learning basics on your own then have everything being spoon fed to you.

Once you know the basics if you have specific questions people will be more than happy to help.

And remember it’s more than just a recipe and putting a male with a female, you first need to ask yourself if you are up to the task, are you equipped to raise X number of animals, can you afford breeding, how will you get them started, will you have feeders readily available once you have hatchlings etc?

As far as incubator, I built my own out of an old fridge.

Okay,

1. The breeding/copulating is the most involved part of the process. I start cooling in November with Night Drop and start pairing in December. Males spend 2-3 days in a females enclosure or until I notice a significant break in the lock. He gets removed. takes another 2 days off before being reintroduced to either the same female or another female. This process continues until late winter early spring, or unless I see signs of ovulation. But usually I will pull males anyways end of Febrauary early March.

2. Eggs usually come April - June. Once a female lays her eggs, I incubate them at 89 degrees in my incubator that I made using a wine cooler that had been gutted, fitted with heat tape and a fan, with a dozen or so water bottles at the bottom, and sealed. I use a substrateless incubation meathod that invovles a few inches of permilite, a few cups of water, and the eggs sit on top of a grate called an egg crate, which can be purchased at home depot. (they come in 6foot x 4 foot sheets so you have to be prepaired to cut it, which is not a big deal). I then put a sheet of glad press and seal between the lid of the shoebox and I replace the press and seal once a week.

Home Depot doesn't know it as egg crate. It's a light diffuser.
