I have one like this too that I'm not sure what he is. Does yours have green eyes? Mine does and a few breeders have said that's a tell sign of pastel. What was his breeding? Looks like he could be pastel. Mine is just the wrong color....he's very light like yours so some ppl said fire or vanilla but I have no idea. Breeding is the only way to know for sure. He sure is pretty.....I will try to post a pic of mine for you.

its a good one either way. i wouldnt rule out that he has pastel, but i also dont really see it.

if you breed, you will know :)

edit: knowing the parents would be nice, if this is from something like lemonblast het pied to pied or bee het pied to pied, or from some other combo with pastel in it, then its more likely to have pastel of low quality in it, if the parents were a pied and a stunning pastel het pied where the pastel component is really awesome, then its less likely to be pastel.

    I'd vote normal pied.
Doesn't make sense that someone would sell a pied that they have questions whether its a normal pied or a codom pied without making sure they can properly identify it first. As a hatchling I'm sure pastel pieds and regular pieds are clearly identifiable unless the pastel used was of very low quality.
The animal must have obviously looked like a normal pied as a hatchling and didn't just grow into its pastelness.
Plus I thought pastel pieds tend to have pixelation and speckles in their pattern?

it was sold as a pied at a local pet shop...the breeder is a local who is very small and claims the parents are both plain het pieds...I seen the father he was a normal h et pied....but never seen the mother...all the pieds from these two pairings are real orange as babies including mine, but the older they get they turn brown except for this one and one other from the clutch...she kept the female that was doing the same thing....

I don't think he's a pastel pied. He's not really any lighter than my pied, what tricks you is the lack of black in his pattern. He's got lots and lots of brown and a minimal amount of black, that's what makes him seem lighter.

Let me see if I can show you what I mean. This is a body shot of my pied boy. Right off the bat he seems a lot darker because he has so much black in his pattern:

    http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v4...kulcloseup.jpg

But now watch what happens when I crop the picture to eliminate the black:

Can you see how minimizing his black makes him suddenly appear lighter? I think that is what is up with your boy. His crazy pattern doesn't have as much black as most, and it fools you into thinking he is lighter because there isn't as much black to draw your eye.

Now it is possible he's a pastel pied. If his mom was a super browned out pastel, it just might be. But I tend to think he's just a normal with a killer pattern.
