HELP! snake at something he shouldn't

Just fed my snake and he got a big piece of new zealand moss stuff in his mouth and he cannot close it! He's trying to swallow it. What should I do?!

Pick him up, use tweezers or your fingers to gently pull it out.

too late, he went into his log and either got it out or swallowed it because he came out and it's not there anymore. Is he going to be ok? This is how much he swallowed. :(

None of us can say for sure whether he will be okay. I would call your local exotic vet and see if they want you to bring him in.

He should be fine. The moss should pass, just keep an eye on him and make sure he doesn't start acting abnormally. Feed out of the container or put some paper in the container from now on. In the wild they ingest all sorts of things that do them no harm.

happens in nature all the time. snakes can digest or at least break up bones, feathers, hair, leaves, and all organs that might be in rhodents / frogs / birds / other snakes. ive seen footage of a snake in the wild trying to catch a bird, and ending up with a complete set of sturdy tail feathers stuck in its mouth sideways, unable to get it out. The poor bird couldnt fly anymore, and the poor snake had to work the feathers for quite a while until it managed to swallow that big pack of feathers. If that would kill a snake, snakes would never go after birds.

snakes can get in trouble by swallowing something that is too big to later poop out. But unless the moss is toxic, in this case i really wouldnt worry. Next time react immediately and take the snake and pull it out of the mouth, but now its too late and since moss is a natural thing and not a big, hard object, i wouldnt worry.

just to be sure, keep track of your snakes digestive activities, if he stops pooping for too long thats a bad sign. But i guess you will soon see the moss in a different form, maybe as a little marble of fibers added to some other business.

I wouldnt worry. A friend of mine ate a pile of sand when he was 3 years old, of course they rushed him into the hospital, and the doctors said: dont worry if its less than half a kilogram (about 1 pound) of sand.

It's salad first, then the main course...snake needs to learn some table manners...:D
