Is there any "rule" about traveling with snakes?
My mom has been wanting to see our little ones for some time now but hasn't been able to make the drive out due to her schedule.

I'm heading to her place tonight for dinner & the game and was contemplating taking 1 or both of them along for the ride. It's about half hour one way.

    What are your guys' opinions/thoughts?

One hour away is fine. Be sure that they don't get too cold. A heat pack, similar to a shipping heat pack may be a good investment but not absolutely required. Anytime you can show off your snakes and introduce new people to herps, it is a good thing. What you are doing is no different than taking a snake to an expo. Have fun, use common sense, take only one for now and enjoy yourself!

I agree with Don. Just transport them in tubs or bags and keep the car as warm as possible. Bring along something to keep them in that you can heat once you arrive. When I moves to Orlando from the tampa Bay area of Florida I made a 2 hour drive with my snakes without any issues.

(granted Florida in August is a good bit warmer / more humid than Vancouver is)

    AWESOME :D
Thanks, guys! I've won over a few skeptic minded people with my snakes, so I'm excited to add my mom to the list.

The most important rule when traveling with snakes is to never let them drive.

Cheap unpopped popcorn in a tube sock.

Nuke it on low until it's very warm and plop into travel tub.

Provides long lasting heat and beneficial humidity, too.

Damn, why didn't you tell me this sooner?! Lol! :-p

The trip went off without a hitch! They tolerated it really well. As did the fam jam haha. My mom & sisters loved them. Stepdad & sisters boyfriend? Not so much. All in good time ;)

Awesome tip about the popcorn! Throwing that one in the memory bank for sure.

I'm glad you made some new converts....:)

    My entire family is snake-phobic.

    No changing any minds, here.
