Is our new BP under weight?
My husband and I bought a BP 15 days ago from Petco. Petco people said they were feeding her pinkies every Thursday. We thought that was way too small for her so we tried feeding her F/T fuzzy Saturday with no luck. Petco said she was around 5 months old, but we think she's a lot younger. Ana is 64.4g and approximately 18 inches long. Is she under weight? What should she be eating?

Do you have pictures? 64 grams is hatchling size. So either they were wrong about her age, or she wasn't eating enough, or at all for them. What is her set up like? Husbandry can have a lot to do with balls eating or not. Also, are you handling her? If so, don't. Leave her alone to settle in, and once she starts eating then handle. You could try a mouse hopper. The action might peak her interest.

Ana is in a 40 gallon glass tank, we use coconut fiber substrate, the humidity is staying around 45%, we have two hideouts one on the warm side and on the cooler side. Warm side has been staying around 90 and the ambient air temp around 78.

Her skin feels really loose too.

Do you have a lot of clutter in her tank? She might not feel safe in such a big tank

The clutter was recently added, and we've recently moved her to our bedroom so there's not so much traffic around her. We've also put foam board on the outside to make her feel safer.

Aside from the tank issues, she doesn't look dangerously underweight. Just get her feeding on a regular basis and she'll be fine in that department.

Picture is hard to tell. Looks maybe a bit on thin side. Does her body have a triangular shape? If you can get her eating, she should be fine. Minimize stress, and let her settle in, she should start eating. Many of us feed our young bps every 5 days too.

Yeah, she is a triangular shape. Thanks for the advice. We are going to try and get her settled in and try a live one Wednesday.
