    hello every body my bp is 21 inches long and getting fed every 5 days on 1-2 11-20 gram fluffy rats so i was just wondering when i should bump him up to the next size rodent so thanks for all the replies any help is welcome.

    Whats the weight? There's a rule some people go by 15% of the snakes body weight. I just do it by sight. So I wouldn't be able to tell you how much the weight of the rat would have to be without the weight of your snake.

    Another way to determine what size feeder is best for your snake is by comparing the size of the snake to the size of the feeder. The feeder should be about the same width as the thickest part of your snake. If the width of your feeders is becoming smaller than the thickest part of your ball python, then it is probably time to up the feeder size! I use this method to feed my ball python and it works very well. :gj:

    If you're feeding two rat fuzzies...you can probably feed one rat pup. You really should get another scale. They are pretty cheap at walmart in the kitchen section.

    right cheers for that i'll get a set of scales on my next payday but for know i'll just settle for using my mums scales that she uses for baking lol (she ent to happy about it) i'll tell you the weight of him in a day or so because he just fed yesterday

    right then i just weighd my bp and he's 181 grams empty so going on that should i feed him a pup or what

    Yeah, you're pretty safe with a pup. In my experience pups (have fur but their eyes are closed) tend to be right around 20 grams.

    Rat pup should be fine! I start feeding my weaned rats around 350-400g.
