baking hides?

So, I got my first bp about a month ago, and about a week or so ago I thought I noticed a mite on her, but I wasn't sure. Since she's been soaking in her water dish for the past two days Im pretty positive shes got them now. I've read countless threads on this site and checked out the several other sites on the web and im pretty confidant on how to remove them. My question is, I know I'll have to bake her wooden hide in the oven to completely kill the mites, I just don't know at what temp, or for how long to do it. Any one out there have any ideas? Any and all advice welcome :)

I found this on reptileforums:

"The only successful way I have found is by making up a bath of bleach and hot water, then soaking. I then soaked in plain water 4 times rinsed well and allowed to dry.

Or buy a couple of cat flea collars and a couple of bin bags, put the branch and collars in together, seal it up and leave it for 14 days. Then take it all out rinse the branch then leave to air for 10-14 days.

I did leave everything for ages to ensure that all the chemicals were rinsed off and thoroughly dried out.

20 minutes at 180F does the trick for me. Just make sure you don't start a fire. I've never had it happen, but caution is advised.

Do the bleach bath as posted above but bake it until dry at 180-200*
Don't let it air dry.

Thats how I clean anything I collect in the wild.

Bake?

Just hold it under water for a few minutes. Mites will drown and die.

Baking will help to kill all the eggs. Just a rinse under water will do very little to mite eggs.

Why not just spray it with Provent a mite?

Thank you so much guys. That was the last piece of the puzzle I needed to know to kill these suckers completely.

Baking will only be a positive. It will kill any mites, eggs, wood lice, fungus or anything else that has collected on it.

I don't see it being a bad idea to do this once or twice a year anyway.

PAM will not kill eggs. It will only kill them after they hatch.
