considering starting breeding.. need help
so i have owned reptiles a long time and bps a decent time, and im interested in getting racks and a small breeding group. i want to build a rack from home depot shelves and 28 qt tubs, and buy a breeding group from royal constrictor designs, or possibly get a mojave and a lesser and breed some lucys :gj: or maybe get an albino and a few hets and start there. i'm not sure, can someone help me out? like what should i produce that requires a small investment and can return a good profit after the season

Odds are, you won't turn a profit. You'll be LUCKY if you break even

I have a rack built the SAME way. There is a youtube video that pretty much lays it out step by step. I use flex-watt. When I made the rack, I essentially made it upside down so that there was a goove pre-made to put my flexwatt on. I mounted it on a piece of panel board covered in foil tape and mounted that on a block of wood and just set it in my rack. If you want some pictures, I can get some for you.
As for what to breed, like everyone else has said, breed what YOU want to produce. I have 5 corns and 3 BPs right now. You can see in my signature what I have. I personally LOVE lesserbees and BELs, so next season when I pair, I'm hoping to get some lesser bees and hold back one or two to make some BELs. I have one more spot on my rack (mwahahahaha) that I'll fill with probably an albino or pied girl in the near future.

for building the rack home depo sells melamine in sheets 97"x49x3/4 if you plan it out before you go you can have them cut it(usually free) and then all you have to do is screw it together for heating most people uses flexwatt. as far as what to get if i were starting out again i would pick up a group of normal females and a few multi gene males
Re: considering starting breeding.. need help
i have been considering breeding too and my question is about the cost. I'm not looking to be a big time breeder like NERDs or BHB. I'm looking to do it as a hobby because I love the snakes and its something my daughter and I can do together. I want to just break even. If I happen to make a profit that's always good and it would allow us to possibly buy new morphs to breed.
So is it realistic to think I can breed balls and brake even? Or is this not realistic.

Ill definitely do that and good luck with your first year. I'm sort of lucky because a good friend of mine breeds BPs, bearded dragons, and geckos so I have been talking with him a lot. He also gave me my first normal. I figure ill plan for the next year and keep seeing how others are doing.
