    Hold backs
Quick question from a first time breeder. I know it depends on the look of the animal itself first and foremost but do most breeders keep males or females of their clutches as holdbacks for future breeding plans? Which ones are prefered? I know this might sound stupid but I thought it would be a better idea to keep the females and raise them up rather then the males. Please correct me if I'm wrong and any input would greatly be appreciated.

It depends on the snake and what their plans are with that snake. Sometimes people hold back the best of the best base morphs to produce more quality in the future. Some people have a specific plan in mind for what they want out of a breeding pair. Btw, you're very close to me :O.

What pairing didja do? What were you hoping to keep o_O?

Well I put my lesser male with my spider female and got 2 lesser bee females, 2 lesser bee males, a female spider and a female lesser. This was my first attempt at breeding.

Those are some awesome odds! I' keep a lesserbee female (or both), then sell the others and maybe pick up a sweet morph combo to pair with the spider next year :D.

Like others said, it depends on what you are planning to breed in the future. Sometimes you will want to hold back a male, other times a female, it depends on what you already have and what you want to make. As for keeping males or females, it makes more sense to hold back more females than males since you only need one male to breed many females.
