    Question/ Hypothetical.
    Hey guys,

I was going through my list today, trying to figure out what I am going to be pairing this year. I was thinking about who I was going to pair my OG with and it I started thinking about the different lines of hypo.

From what I understand, the orange ghost is not compatible with the green ghost. However, If I bred an orange ghost to a green ghost would I end up with double hets for green and orange? And, If I bred the offspring back to each other, is it possible to have a mutation that is both green and orange ghost? And likewise with Axanthics, is it possible to have a TSK+VPI axanthic that carries both strains of the gene, and would that animal now be compatible with any line of the mutation? And would it make a visual difference, between an Orange Ghost and an Orange Green Ghost, if said mutation was possible? lol

Technically I guess so. I don't think anybody has tried it yet. That I know of anyway. Give it a shot. But yes to the axanthic scenario too. The different lines are not compatible with eachother but you can produce a snake that's het and homozygous for both lines. I don't know what it would look like though.

I would assume it would work the same as any double recessive mutation but how it would look is beyond me... It could be a total surprise or complete let down. Or maybe one trait would dominate the other visually and you wouldnt really be able to tell. I dont even know what a green ghost looks like. Off to WoBP... :)

As long as both mutations aren't on the same locus it should work (and being that they aren't compatible I would suspect that they aren't on the same locus) I know that in leopard geckos you can cross albino lines, but I also know that there are complications involved with the offspring in many cases. Worth a shot, in fact I was thinking about what a OG x Desert Ghost would look like the other day. As with any new cross be prepared for complications.

    Hey Guys,

It might be worth my time just to see what the outcome would be! I often wondered about it haha.

here's the green ghost. There isn't much a difference.

This is my Orange Ghost. He's lightened up awesomely and I would really like to see if I could get something even softer and cleaner. I might try the desert ghost! That was an awesome suggestion. I think that would complement it the most!

If I am going to go through with this what do you guys think I should play with?

I think desert ghost would be your best shot to radically change the color and pattern of what it produced. Id say esert for sure. If those are the only options.

I would make sure you confirm the line is not compatible, there are quite a few people on both sides of the argument, I honestly think there might be two different lines of green ghost. I mean how else can people claim they are compatible and some claim they are not?

I honestly don't even think you would be able to tell if you hit the double homozygous, but maybe something cool might pop up. Then again there is the risk of a bunch of unknown lines of hypos, be prepared for that.

Good points, but as far as confirming the line is incompatible wouldnt that be accomplished by breeding the 2 together and getting no hypos? Unless you mean talking to an expert or someone who has tried it personally to confirm their incompatible?
