Rescue,

Hi all,
I don't know the whole story yet, but I beleive at some point this week I will be recieving a large female leopard. Apparently haveing problems shedding. as in Doesn't shed correctly at all.
I asked a few questions IE setup, heat, health etc. the one big thing I figured on was a "humid hide" as in a deli / tupperware cup with nice warm moist sphagnum moss or vermiculite wasn't available, but low and behold the owner did provide it. the owner does sound responsible and has been trying different suggestions but to no avail.
Obviosly the leopard will be getting a mandatory vet check when I receive her. But have any of you guys run into this.
The two I have here never have had any problems. (besides Tiny from birth defects).
But anyhow your ideas and opinions would be helpfull.

wish i could help rusty, buuuut. i know nothing about geckos...

but i do know one thing, people that don't know how to take care of their own pet really drive me insane. i hope you do get the gecko, sounds like he could use someone like you.

Well, first check the toes. If the shed doesn't come off right, they lose digits. We also have a caresheet for them in the caresheet section for geckos.

Oh I meant to add the above pics of the new rescues are Tremepr stock. Hopefully those two juvi's make it, it's been a long night but they are still alive. First scheduled appt. is on Fri (due to holiday) with our DVM. Althou she has seen the pics and we have discussed a plan of action for those two babies. Hopefully they will come around

Whoa, looks pretty healthy. more so thene expected.

The best way to get rid of excess shed is a nice luke-warm soak. Make sure the water is slightly warm to the touch (seeing as how we're 98.6, slightly warm to us might be TOO warm for the leos). I like to actually gently rub the leo while he's soaking. This helps loosen the left over skin. After you take her out, you'll want to use a Q-Tip or some other soft tool that you can rub the shed off with. Gently rub the shed until it's gone. Also, as BallKingdom said, make sure you check the toes quickly. You don't want the leo to lose them.

Thanks for the imput. Great suggestions. I have accually had another rescue who had shedding issues compounded by terminal illness and she was only with us for approx. 1 week. Is it true that some leopards will just never shed right? Have any of you ever experienced this. I am in the hopes that she will be succesfull once in the correct enclosure etc. But I have heard that even when doing everything right a few geckos just don't ever shed correctly?
Any experience with this?

I have a sick leo that has never shed right, I have to bathe him, and then peel it off for him every time he sheds
