my male spider is only about 2 months old and seems to be a little scared when i 1st take him out like he doesnt move at all but after a little he starts movin around, but he still is a little jumpy when that happens. my quetion is as he gets older will he get more calm and less prone to striking?

Re: baby snake question
Yes, he will settle down with time and handling. As long as you have him set up right, with hides to feel secure in. What is your set up like, and how long have you had him? Initially when you get a new snake, you need to just let them be for a week. No holding or messing with. Then when they are eating good, start out holding for a few minutes at a time, slowly building up the amount of time you hold him. He should come around.

ive had him about a month hes eating really good, i have him in a 40 gallon breeder and im gonna be buying something from animal plastics or similar hopefully this weekend, he has a hot hide and cold hide and a moist hide sort of in the middle but a bit closer to the hot side

and water bowl ofcourse lol

He'll settle down the more you handle him. It's a hatchling thing to be jumpy.
Also, 40 gallons sounds awfully large for a baby.

Re: baby snake question
should i get something smaller? because the animal plastics i was gonna buy is around the same size
-
as long as you get the divider with the AP cage you will be fine, I've kept 4 BP babies in half of a T8 and never had a problem.

ok im going to the havre de grace show again this week in hopes of finding a cage simliar to the animal plastics ones so i dont have to pay shipping costs and i will look for a smaller one or one with dividers

It doesnt matter at all how big your enclosure is as long as you have a good hide and you can keep your temps and humidity right. I always see this argument about size of enclosures. Think about it. They dont live in 6qt tubs in africa. They do however spend the najority of their lives underground in termite mounds so a good hide is important for enclosures. Also havre de grace is a small show. If your driving a long distance to go there i wouldnt waste the time for the trip.
