Back or Belly Heat?

Im redesigning my snake racks and im thinking of making an ikea rack. Now this rack will have 11 in flexwat back heat (the design makes it very hard to have belly heat) for my males and my baby rack will get back heat. Then my female 41 qt rack that im going to build will have belly heat. Thoughts?

Good, i have them all on belly heat, but the tubs sliding in/out and the fluctuations are annoying me a bit, so i think imma try my hand at back heat:oops:

I personally hate back heat, even though I do have it on one rack. If I weren't able to keep my snakes in a 77-78 degree room, I'd be highly skeptical that I'd be able to keep those snakes warm enough. It just doesn't seem to be that effective.

I don't think it makes any difference as long as the balance of ambient air / hot spot and wattage is made and temps are correct it is basically the same.

i might just have to go with belly heat again, only because of the fact that my room gets a bit chilly in the winter...

generally speaking racks don't do well in cool rooms... The ambient /cool side temps are hard to keep at a correct level.

Most people balk at anything that isn't belly heat, which is ridiculous. My room is always between 70-82, so we have a side mounted UTH on our corn tank, but a bottom-mounted UTH for our Ball, who needs a much hotter basking spot.

It all depends on your snake's needs. If it's colder, I'd do belly, if the room is in their range, do back heat.

I am in the process of building a 18 tub rack. I am worried my room may be to cool. I was wondering can you do both belly and back heat using two thermostats? One for the hot spot one for the ambient?

My room can get down to 60 degrees in the winter but ive been keeping my snakes 4 years with belly and never had a problem, so i guess ill just stick with belly-____-
