SB 477 Dangerous wild animals.

SUMMARY AS INTRODUCED:

Dangerous wild animals. Makes it a Class 1 misdemeanor to privately possess, sell, transfer, or breed dangerous wild animals The bill would grandfather in the ownership of any existing lawful exotic animals; however, the owner of such animals is required to meet certain conditions in order to maintain possession of the exotic animals. The bill limits the possession of dangerous wild animals to facilities accredited by the Association of Zoos and Aquariums and bona fide sanctuaries. The legislation describes the procedures to be followed in the seizure and care of dangerous wild animals.

Also, for people in VA ... As far as pythons goes:

(2) Family Boidae: anacondas (Genus Eunectes), boa constrictors (Boa constrictor), Burmese pythons (Python molurus), reticulated pythons (Python reticulatus), amethystine pythons (Morelia amethistina), scrub pythons (Morelia kinghorni), Northern African pythons (Python sebae), Southern African pythons (Python natalensis).

The link didn't work for me. Who do we need to contact to put a stop to this? It is ridiculous that they are trying to do this. :rage: :rage: :rage:

So this doesn't pretain to the Pythons Regius species?

No, but that doesn't mean they are going to stop with just those species. This is only the beginning. If they ban those, they WILL come after other species as well.

Not only that, but I will fight for the rights of people to keep ANY of those species whether or not I keep them.

Omg is that all some people care about? BPs will be next!

Don't take personal offense to this but BPs are the most boring and annoying (as far as eating habits) of all snake species!

I love this forum but I care just as much if not more about many other species as well. I hope all the "strictly BP" people are fighting these bans just as hard as everyone else is.

Please don't let this state ban slip through just 'cause we're distracted with the federal ban!
