Shed <3

my little baby normal "Monty" ball python has finally gone into shed, his eyes are cloudy"blue", and my humidity is up to nearly 75 is tht to much? i dnt want my first shed to be a bad shed. <3 any info would help :oops:

70% is usually the mark to hit; be careful that you don't have TOO much humidity, it could cause a respiratory infection or other nasty things.

I've heard also that 1-2 days after their eyes return to normal (but before they shed) give them a 20 minute soak, and usually the next day you'll have a clean, beautiful shed. :)

75% should be ok just don't let it get much higher than that and let it drop down some after he sheds. I tend to keep my humidity between 60-70% and have had pretty good sheds so far (that's also without me soaking them or anything).

You would have to breed a het. pied X het. pied to breed pieds. A normal male isn't much use for breeding unless you are just breeding normals.

how bout a pastel? mojave even?

Your humidity should be fine for a shed cycle. I would advise against soaking unless your snake has a problem shedding. Soaking can was the fluid out from between the new and old skin and actually make the shed harder for a snake.

to get a pastel or a mojave you would have to breed your normal X mojave or normal X pastel. The reason normal males aren't used for breeding is because all they do is give you more of a chance to get a normal back (which most breeders don't want) for example

when i can breed my pastel X spider i will get
(percentages are per egg)
25% normal
25% pastel
25% spider
25% bumble bee

when you do a normal X mojave you get
50% normal
50% mojave

so thats why breeders don't use male normals, you would still have to buy that morph as a female (more expensive) before you can breed and get it back.
