What to breed with a pastel?
Ok so I either want to buy a female butter, spider, or bumblebee this October to cross with my pastel, but I can't decide which of the three would be a better choice. Butters are awesome I think, and spiders can be crossed with lots of other stuff for pattern, but I think I should just spend the extra $$ for the bee and have multiple genes...it'll probably come down to which I find nicer and for a better price at the show, but what would you do?

Ultimately you need to get what YOU like and what YOU want to work with.
Me I would go with a Spinner

Yep me too, spinner all day long. Unless you can get a hidden gene lesser, for hg lesser pastels. If you get a male put that next year to a woma for pastel soul suckers, and retire to Florida lol

id say either go for the spider or bumblebee. But more so toward the bumble. Then you can at least produce Killers, super pastels, Bumbles, pastels, spiders, AND NORMS.:D

If those were my 3 choices I would go with the bee

None of the above. :)
My thoughts are
1.) Enchi (anything with enchi is narly)
2.) Fire (fireflys)
3.) Cinnamon (I just love cinnys)
Or
4.) Mojave.....(I do love me some pataves. :) )
But really it comes down to what you like and aim to produce. I myself am doing a lot of white snake work so I'm investing in lesser/butter, mojave, fire, axanthic, albino, yellow/orange belly, etc. The sky is really the limit. Do what you love!

I think I'll try for the bee, as long as they have a nice one that I can afford at the show.

Seriously?:D So I just need to obtain the hg lesser and then a normal woma (no hg?)

I'm mostly focusing on all the bee/spider combos :)
My friend was going to get a cinny, but now it might be a hg lesser we're looking for instead! If I get a butter we could make leucys as a plus too...
Enchis have awesome patterns tho...jeez if I had the money I'd be coming back with at least 5 different snakes in 1 show lol

If I had all of them available to me I would go with a nice lesser or butter. As you will soon find out you when going to shows you have one thing in mind and walk out with another. I went to the local Tucson show last year. All I wanted was an albino female. I walked out with a female ghost.

Hg lesser will cost quite a bit of change....I'm talking more than a thousand.
