Seems to hate being in tub w/ water

My BP tuna is having a bad shed and I placed her in a tub with warm water. She seems to try her hardest to escape the tub. The water isn't too hot or too deep, does anyone have any ideas why?

Ball pythons arent water snakes, so they dont like it, just tolerate it once they know theres no way out.

As long as that's the case I'll let her sit for about 30 mins. Any advice to keep the water warm? It got cool after about 10 mins.

Not really, just keep it in warmest room of house till shes done soaking.


Or just stick her in a wet pillow case, tied off and put that back in cage on warm side.

Not a really good idea to bathe them IMO, you are washing off the oils they use to shed.

She was shedding in a lot of little pieces so I decided to help.

re-read ops first post. Bad Shed warrants soaking so does constipation in snakes.

I was under the impression that it stresses a snake out to soak, even with a bad shed.

Any soaking is stressful to non water snakes. But so is stuck sheds on them. Hour soaking to relieve discomfort is worth it to the snakes health.

I would try the pillowcase trick next time! Put a damp towel in a pillowcase with the snake, tie the pillowcase shut. Snake rubs up against the pillowcase and with the help of the moisture and humidity gets the shed off. Not to mention it's a nice dark area and seems less likely to stress the snake out! I usually put the pillowcase in the snake's tub, lets them stay warm. :D
