    !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
so my ball python is having his first shed for me.

half of his body shed no problem but the other half was still there.

so i soaked him in warm water for a couple mins and began to let him run through a damp towel. his shed began to peel off no problem.

but then after the 3rd-4th time he was slithering through the towel he pooped.

it sounded really wet and as if he was farting. when i unfolded the towel his poop was really really wet and looked very dark to me..

i should have taken a picture but wasnt thinking at the time and already threw away the towel.

is this dark wet poop normal after soaking? and has this happened to anyone else?

any input is appreciated.. i am a little worried

also i had just recently switched him to frozen thawed about two weeks ago. he had two thawed out pinky rats within those two weeks and this was the first large visible poop he had taken. could his poop be like how i described because of the switch from live to frozen?

this is a bit complicated to speak about but lets try. The poo did it look like a cats normal poo? With some liquid and stuff at the end or was it a whole mass of loose goo? Often they will pee and poo one followed by the other and you get liquid with solid urnates (a really well hydrated snake will have lots of liquid and some white urnate dehydrated you get more white less liquid) Liquid and poo isn't cause for concern but runny poo is different.

hmm. im actually not sure. it was almost like diarrhea but a little more solid.

im just gonna keep an eye on him and if it comes out somewhat wet again ill look for a herp vet.

do you think it could have been the change from live pinkies to frzen thawed?

i hope this explains it better.

You relaxed the little fella. Who doesn't fart in the tub?

If you've been giving pinkies, it's highly possible that's giving him looser stools. No hair to help hold things together. Or it could be the change, too. I wouldn't worry about it unless it becomes chronic and loose.

that sound ok to me too keep an eye on it and make sure it doesn't get worse. You might get a fecal sample bottle to have on hand in case the next one is loose you can get it to a lab and check for parasites (common cause of loose stool)

while poo is the topic here...
is it ok for a snake to go months between poos? my girl give me a urate every other week, maybe every couple weeks but she hasnt left me any poo for some time, i forgot exactly how long but i know it was about 2 sheds ago & 2 sheds ago was in march...
i dont wanna stress her with a soaking if i dont have to & she's been eating every 10 days or so since that march shed with 1 missed feeding due to an aggressive rat. downsized from smalls to weaned for a bit & have, as of 3 feedings ago, gotten back up to smalls.
    so the point is
5 months since last poo + 15 meals since then = still no poo????
    should i soak her?

    sorry for the hijack
