appropriate tub size
What size tub would be appropriate for a nine month old male normal that weighs in at 946 grams and is approximately 3 feet long. I want to move my male normal into a tub real soon. Thanks for your input.

i use both 28 qt sterilite from wal mart and 32 qt sterilite from target, they work great and really make your snake secure. are you building a rack or just having one tub?

oh, well go to wally world or target or wherever and look at their tubs and pick the one you like.... just remember if you get one that is large to outfit it just like you did your aquarium or what ever you had. to make the snake like the tub also:gj: oh and you are going to want to keep more of an eye on your heat source as it can burn the plastic easier

I would say no smaller than a sweatbox, or a 28 qt. I can't remember if they are the same size or not. I really wouldn't go larger than a 28 qt for a male either. There's no harm in going large if you want to, but it's not needed. Plus it will be easier to keep temps up in a smaller tub. I only give my breeder females the large tubs so they can thermoregulate as much as they need. Generally a tub that is 2/3rds as long as your BP is a good size.

No you won't have too, temps are much easier to control and plastic doesn't start melting until like 400 degrees..

um.... you do need to keep an eye on it, zoo meds or any other type of heat pads do malfunction and burn up tubs.... seen it happen.

Mine are all in 34 qt, big enough for two hides but small enough where they aren't stressed out.
