Purchasing 2 hatchling morphs and a third within a month - advice

I have about $700 to spend on two 2010 morphs. I was thinking a bumblebee male and a mojave or lesser female for the first two. I was thinking of picking up a pastel female a month or two down the road. I'm doing this from a hobbyist stand point, not a commercial breeder. I don't mind making some money back to add new morphs to the collection though. What would you purchase first within my budget? What would you add in a few months to compliment the first two and provide some diversity and morph possibilities?

I'd pick up two females first.. just me though.

I (as well) would get two females of your choice because they take longer to mature than the males do. Get your females up on weight and age first then find a fitting male.:gj:

I would recommend picking up 2 females and saving up for your male. Females take an additional year or two to mature so I'd stock up on females during your first year. When you do get a male I would recommend saving up and getting a triple codom (like a Killer Bee instead of a Bumblebee) over a double codom.

For first year females I'd recommend getting a Pinstripe if you plan on getting a male with Spider in him, Spinners are awesome. I'd also recommend Lesser as the Lesser morph is awesome to mix into anything.

I hadn't thought about getting females but that's a good idea. I triple codom is out of my price range unfortunately. I'd like to spend $600-700 for the first two and another $200 for the third. I have to spend somewhat responsibly :) I'm already spending a boat load on a Herpstat and flexwatt setup that can grow with time. I just like to do things right. Thanks for the input so far!

So you buy the girls and put a little away every month, say $25 a week? Then at the end of the year you should have $1300 to drop on a male;)

With $700 you could get a double morph female then just get a cheaper morph for your second female( $200-pastel or yellow belly). After a year, get a double morph male. You can use him for breeding your 2 females.

I forgot to explain but part of the reason I'm trying to get 2 snakes right away is because most of the breeders will give me a really decent break if I pickup 2 or 3 at a time. A hundred or more saved will really help towards the third snake. I'm leaning towards a bumblebee/lemonblast male and a pastel female to start. I will pickup a lesser female within a few months after that. Perhaps I will fork the cash out for a 09 lesser.

I would get a Pastel YB female and a Lesser or Mojave female now, depending on which super and which crosses you like (mojave vs lesser). You might even get a free male Pastel or YB or something like that thrown in. It is not a bad idea to have a male that is a year older than the male you plan on breeding to your females, just as a back up. Then, save your money and get the best combo male you can next year. I would get a combo male that produces supers with both morphs. As an example, and I am not saying to get this male, but a Sulfur Mojave male will produce both blue and black eyed Lucies. A Pastel YB will produce a Super Pastel and an Ivory...but, it all boils down to one thing, get what you like to look at.

That's definately something to chew on. I hadn't really thought about yellow bellies. I just looked up Sulfur Mojave but they are waaaaaaay out of my price range but damn they look great! :) Good thoughts though and I now have an even tougher decision to make... LOL. I was hoping this would make it easier to choose.
