F/T rats/mice
How do you thaw and heat your rodents. Whats the best way in your opinion?
*details*

I just run the faucet until I get some nice hot water and then let them soak in it until thawed. I then heat them up a bit with a hair dryer. It's worked so far.

If you have a fire place, setting them 6 feet away from the insert thaws them perfectly in an hour or so. However, if you don't have a wood fire place, putting the mouse in a baggy and setting it in a dish of warm water works well too. Just make sure you warm them a little extra after thawing to entice your BP:gj:

Re: F/T rats/mice
I leave them in the snake room to defrost and heat them up with a blow dryer before feeding.........Works everytime

Re: F/T rats/mice
i put them in the fridge the night before so they will defrost then get them out the next day let them sit a bit and then get some hot water and soak them in it for a bit to get their temp up.

What I do is I'll take them out of the freezer and shove them in the fridge the day before, usually around 3 pm when I get out of school, and then the next day I let them sit in the snake room to warm up for about half an hour to an hour.
After that I take a blowdryer and warm up the head to give the snake a target and feed them!

Feeding?!?!?!?
shouldent there be a feeding section on these forums?

Re: F/T rats/mice
I thaw them in a zip lock to room temp, then I put the zip lock in hot water for 15 minutes on one side, and another 5 on the other. Larger rats may stay in the water a little longer.

I pull them out of the freezer and put them in hot water. Let them unthaw in it and then dump that water out and put hot water in it again to get them up to the temp I want. They love them warm and wet. I figure they are getting a drink at the same time. I haven't had a problem yet.

I put them in a ziplock bag and into some warm water for anywhere from 20mins to an hour. I will give it another blast of warm water for a few mins before its ready.
But just before I feed, i fill the ziplock bag with some warm water to get the rat all nice and wet. Its easier to swallow also will ensure the snake hydrates.
