Constant lighting
My BP's tank is going to be under constant lighting to keep the heat up, but i read that it isnt good for them some how but never said why so i was just wondering if anyone knew why constant lighting is bad? :S

Re: Constant lighting
i have had a red light on 24/7 for the past month and a half and nothing yet, if any i think they are better feeders now. i have read other threads about this and some keep lights on all the time in the rooms of snakes, and some only have lights on when they are checking temps or cleaning really quick. they should be fine

Red IR bulbs or Ceramic heat emitters have no lights being emitted off them, therefore better option for night time heating to not disturb night cycle.

Yeah stick to red bulbs or ceramic, that way if you do need to have them on all day, it's no problem. Ball Pythons have been kept in complete darkness and do very, very well, but they do stress out when it's always light.

thanks everyone for the replys and i got another quick question, my one hide is at around 79-80F and the other one is at 93F and the humidity is in the low 50's is this good? :S

Yep, what kind of substrate are you using? Granted low 50's are good for humidity, but i like having the option of spraying it down to keep the humidity near the 70's when in shed. The Temps sound perfect, so your good in that department. What are you using to measure the temps? A lot of thermometers are inaccurate.

Everything is fine.
I aim for a 78-80 room temp and 89-91 hot side.

I'm using newspaper as substrate but I will be using coco husks soon and I'm using a digital TEMPMINDER for measuring temps.

If your getting 50+% humidity using newspaper i would stick with that. Switching to a moist bedding might cause problems with too much humidity.
Dont fix what isnt broken.

Ok cool thanks and my snakes eyes went foggy today so I assume he is going into shed but I cant bring up the humidity for a long time so what should I do? I was thinking about while he is half way through shed to just bath him in warm water and let him run through something rough but If you guys know a better way where he can stay in his tank that would be great.
