    Need Input - Car
Alright, I am fishing for input here. I am in middle of an internal debate as to whether or not I like this car. Help?

Miles - a lot. A LOT, but the guys that owns it .. I can tell just by talking to him know what he is doing. I know mechanically anything that needed to be fixed, was fixed.

    Exteior - GORGEOUS.

Tires - Toyos that were ~$200 3,000 miles ago

Interior - Worn .. but not bad considering age and mileage. Seats can be covered/repaired .. not too worried there, what would worry me is a cracked dash or shotty stereo installation .. and that all seems done right and in good condition

Price - It books at $3,400. He is asking more than that, with wheels and tires he has an argument for that, but ... not much over that.

I'm a car guy Love cars By the time I was 21 I had had about 10 different cars everything from Indy Pace cars to Hurst Old's. Just looking at the pics it looks like a mid 90's Z28 camaro. Cars like this rarely haven't gone this long without someone getting foot heavy. The fact that it's Automatic is also a concern. The transmissions are the first to go.

If not then the Hood has been replaced and the racing stripes are wrong for the car. The interior is in need of some work. ask him to let you take it out side and run water over it, that Glass Targa tops are almost certain to leak. Get in and stomp around on the floor boards make sure they aren't rusted through, look in the trunk all the little places water can hide and see if there is rush the interior is faded which means it hasn't been garaged it's whole life. All of these things will tell you if it is worth the price..

Asking more because of some tires and 5 Spoke rims really doesn't make the car more valuable or worth asking more..Tell him to put the old ones back on and lower the price.. LOL

    Ok enough of the bad.

    Now for the upside..

ITS A FREAKING AMERICAN ICON!! the Z is the name in production Chevy Z28 Z06 ect ect..
because these are really desirable cars company like Year One and Classic Parts have tons OEM and After market OEM stuff that will get it looking and running like new..

It's a V8 which means it has an ass load more power than it needs to move around.
It's an automatic, easier to sell and automatic, standard tranny are a niche that is only for people who drive trucks or want to smoke the tires.

The faded seats are a huge plus.. they didn't change the seat style or installation method from 1982 - 2001 so any seat color or pattern from and Camaro of those years will fit..

Mileage is an issue but if its been taken car of then it should be a solid car..

    Bought.

I never was really good at following advice. :)

Also, turns out that when you turn up to the deal with "hudred dolla bills yall" it makes it easier to negotiate.

    Thanks!

It is an old car .. and it shows in a lot of areas. I need to start making a list of things I want to fix, starting with some semi-major things .. not like "OMG LOOK AT THAT SMOKE, and where is my second gear" kinda issues, but .. for example the passenger window doesn't roll fast at all .. weak motor. Replacement can be found in a junk yard I am sure.

Read deck lid struts are shot .. things like that.

Anyway, I feel I got a decent deal on it. The body looks as good in person as it does in photos. Great looking car, no evidence of a re-spray .. but it wouldn't surprise me see as how nice it is.

    .. I'm done.

Lol, I'm a Honda girl, but I have always had a soft spot for camaro's. My dad used to race them and has a 76 I've been trying to get him to restore with me for years! Congrats on the car! By the way, that 76 camaro has been sitting on the side of our shop, outside, for about 12 years, and you can still go out there and start it, well after you jump it and pour a bit of gas in the carburetor. They last forever if you take care of them!

You can probably get a new replacement regulator with motor for around forty dollars, or just lubricate the window rubber and the regulator cables with a silicone based spray lube. The window will move much faster with some lubrication. Trunk struts should be very cheap as well.

Then, clean clean clean that interior.
