Why not hav a drink?
So iv had my bp for 3 weeks and noticed she never drinks. She has 2 water bowls, large and small. Fresh water everyday, still no drinking. What can I do? I kno I can't force her to drink.

She might be drinking when you are not around. Mine are real active at night.

Re: Why not hav a drink?
I've had my BP for 6 months and I've only seen him drink 3 times. It was cute. :)
Some people don't ever get to see their snakes drink. Just because you haven't seen it drink, that doesn't mean it isn't drinking.

True, ive had my 5 bps for the last 5 months and have only seen one of them drink once, its pretty tough to catch them doing it

Re: Why not hav a drink?
I have never personally witnessed any of my males drinking. I know they do, because they PEE A RIVER from time to time. ;)
If your snake pees once in a while, and doesn't show signs of dehydration, they're ninja-drinkers like mine. ;)

Re: Why not hav a drink?
That's true. I've seen my girl drink about 5 times since I got her in Nov. 09 (which is pretty lucky). I heard they usually drink after feeding...so you might try spying on them then. Haven't seen her drink recently, but man she's peed on me/my bed twice in the past week (so I know she's drinking good)!

If your cleaning up pee, thats your indication of a hydrated snake.:gj:

Re: Why not hav a drink?
I watched my male normal drink in the first 10 minutes of getting him home. It was neat to watch. But i havnt seen him do it since. And now being in a tub, i doubt ill ever catch him doing it again. Im pretty sure he drinks though because the paper towels definitly get wet. Lol.

Re: Why not hav a drink?
Pfft I know mine drink when I go to change water and there's just none left. It's not real dry here either. It's reallllly fun cleaning that up.
Are you the same person who posted about the dented eye? I could be mistaken, and sorry if I am. I assume this is why you're asking. If you feed frozen thawed I've heard of people putting water in the prey for snakes like this to get them more hydrated. If your humidity is good, then I would try this. It should fix itself when it sheds again anyway. I wouldn't worry too much unless it doesn't get better by then.

I usually put the mouse in a bag then let it thaw and then heat it up with a hairdryer abit. Maybe ill try letting the mouse thaw in a cup of warm/hot water, maybe it will absorb abit of the water.
