Cinny ringer? Picture request to help me through this troubling time.

My male cinny IMHO is the best example of the morph, and my personal favorite snake in my entire collection. Those of you that know me well know that I have been trying to get him to father a clutch forever.

Well, it finally happened but I don't think the poor little girl is going to make it.
Out of an 8 egg clutch 4 were duds, 3 normals, 1 cinny. This was the 13 year old moms first clutch.

The 3 normals piped but the cinny did not so I cut last night. Was very excited to see an obvious cinny but was immediately heartbroken. Because of a knot in the cord, the sac was still completely full and the cinny was very skinny and weak. I didn't expect her to live through the night.

I woke up this morning and checked on her to find both she and the sack were out of the egg, and she looked dead. The cord was stretched out and totally twisted. I guess opening the tub scared her because it caused her to flinch and break the cord. Blood instantly started poring out of her. She lost a lot of blood. I ended up tying off the little bit of cord still sticking out of her with fishing line, and that immediately stopped the bleeding. She wasn't breathing at all and was totally limp so I assumed she was dead. She still had mucus on her mouth and in her nose holes so I i put her mouth and nose to my mouth and gently blew a couple puffs of air. It seemed to clear the mucus as she started to take the tiniest little breaths on her own. I layed her back down still totally limp, but breathing very faint, shallow breaths.

I checked on her again about an hour later and she was breathing deep breaths and no longer limp, but every few seconds was shaking violently... like she was choking or suffocating.

An hour later (right before I had to leave for work) she was crawling around the tub, turning herself upside down and back again. God I hope she makes it, she is so beautiful... one of the most beautiful things I have ever seen.

I will post pics if she is alive when I get home tonight. she is very obviously a cinny, but also has 5 perfect rings in a row on her back. It looks really awesome. Does anyone have any pics of cinnys with rings on the back?

Good luck with her Mike...that was a nice jester. Most people would not have taken that extra step to save her.

Wow man...what a story! Now i'm really pulling for her right along with you. If her rapid improvement this morning is any indication, I think she'll be just fine.

I too hope she makes it. This, so far, has been a season of miracles. I'm sure we can get a few more :) Good Luck with her. Can't wait to see pics of her and dad when she is better.

If anyone has experience with such a thing.... If it does still make it, should I follow the normal schedule of offering 1st meal after it sheds, or in this case should I offer / force before the first shed?

my little boy (who isn't so little anymore) has rings along his back, but he is also a ringer. Ill take some better pics when I get home if you'd like. These are what i can find in my photobucket.

I hope your little girl is ok Mike, she is so pretty. If it were me, in my extremely limited experience, I'd offer her food sooner rather than later. If she didn't get a lot of yolk, she doesn't have a lot of reserves to run off of. If she's smaller than average I'd give her a small hopper or small fuzzy mouse. Something that moves around enough to stimulate feeding but not enough to pester her little self.

Mike, I had a hatchling like that two years ago and I was pretty sure she wouldn't make it. She was extremely skinny, maybe worse then yours. I tried to feed her before she shed and she ate a small live rat pink which made a huge lump, that's how bad she was. She ate again right after shedding and became a strong feeder and grew quickly. I would suggest you try and get a small meal in her before she goes into shed. Good luck...
